We are currently looking for a compassionate and dependable Disability Support Worker who is based in or close to Auburn, NSW, to join our growing team.
About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker with You’re First Care, you will provide individualised support to NDIS participants based on their needs, goals and support plans.
Your duties may include:
- Community access and social participation
- Transporting participants to appointments, therapy, education and community activities
- Supporting participants with daily living activities
- Assistance with shopping, appointments and everyday tasks
- Building participants' independence and confidence
- Supporting participants to work towards their NDIS goals
- Providing companionship and emotional support
- Completing accurate shift notes and documentation
- Communicating professionally with participants, families and the You’re First Care team
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, or a relevant equivalent qualification
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current National Police Check
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current CPR Certificate
- Valid Australian driver's licence
- Own reliable vehicle
- Current vehicle registration and comprehensive motor vehicle insurance
- Ability and willingness to transport participants when required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to complete clear and professional progress notes
- Reliable access to a smartphone
- Australian working rights
- Availability to work flexible shifts
Location
We are specifically looking for applicants who live in Auburn or surrounding suburbs, including Lidcombe, Berala, Granville, Regents Park, Homebush, Strathfield and nearby areas.
Being located close to Auburn is strongly preferred due to the location of our participants and the nature of available shifts.
Highly Regarded
The following will be viewed favourably:
- Previous experience working with NDIS participants
- Certificate IV in Disability or Community Services
- Experience with autism, intellectual disability or complex behaviours
- Medication assistance training
- Manual handling training
- Working With Children Check
- Experience supporting participants with community access and capacity building
