About the Role
Sydney Local Health District is one of the fastest growing Local Health Districts in New South Wales. Our facilities and services are world class and our staff are dedicated, innovative and caring.
The Patient Liaison Officer (PLO) is pivotal to the Local Health District's strategy to raise additional revenue from patients electing to use their Private Health Insurance. The position is responsible for developing effective relationships with key stakeholders and providing customer focused information in relation to their financial options.
The position provides patients and staff with support in regards to patient election choices, maximise patient fee revenue, and ensures admitted patient financial records are complete and compliant with the National Healthcare Agreement, NSW Health and LHD policies and procedures.

Ideal Candidate
- Relevant experience in a revenue, finance or similar position in a hospital setting, with demonstrated ability to meet revenue targets.
- Excellent communication and customer service experience including a high level advocacy and negotiation skills, with the ability to deal sensitively and professionally with patients, their families, other staff and stakeholders involved in the financial case management process.
- Understanding of Medicare and Private Health Insurance arrangements within the Australian Health Care System.
- Experience with computer systems including Microsoft Office, and ability to learn new systems including Patient Administration System (Cerner), Power Billing Revenue Collection (PBRC), and other revenue/patient information systems.
Ability to work a 7 day rotating shift across the hours of operation, including public holidays and covering afterhours.
