Exciting Opportunity for a Dietitian to join the Geriatric Evaluation and Management Services team!
Flinders Medical Centre is one of South Australia's busiest tertiary hospitals, and its inpatient Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) service is where considered, person-centred care makes a genuine difference to older adults and their families. About the role:
Reporting to the Director, Nutrition and Dietetics (Rehabilitation and Palliative Care Division), you will deliver evidence-based nutrition assessment and dietetic intervention to a complex older adult caseload. Some of your duties may involve:
- Conducting comprehensive nutritional assessments and developing individualised care plans for inpatients on the GEM ward
- Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team — including medical, nursing, speech pathology and occupational therapy — to optimise patient outcomes
- Providing education and discharge planning support to patients, carers and ward staff
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation in line with SALHN standards and contributing to quality improvement activities
About you:
- Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA).
- Demonstrated competence in the application of best practice Nutrition & Dietetics, managing a wide range of clinical of conditions with limited supervision.
- Experience in clinical nutritional management of the elderly, palliative and rehabilitation patients, including those with multiple medical conditions, those exhibiting physical and cognitive frailty, with a palliative diagnosis.
- Experience in initiating and implementing a range of activities aimed at ensuring high quality Nutrition & Dietetic services, including evaluating services, setting objectives and implementing change
