The Opportunity
Fire Services Queensland (FSQ), a BGIS brand, is seeking an experienced and commercially minded General Manager to guide our Brisbane-based business unit. Reporting to the Director of Fire Services – APAC, this pivotal role is responsible for the financial, operational and strategic success of FSQ, overseeing service delivery, asset management, technical compliance and client partnerships across our Queensland portfolio.

What You'll Be Doing
- Provide strategic direction for the FSQ business unit, ensuring alignment with BGIS priorities and client expectations
- Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue, costs and contract outcomes
- Support sustainable business growth by strengthening long-term client relationships and identifying new opportunities
- Coordinate the delivery of essential fire safety services in line with contractual, legislative and client requirements
- Oversee quoting, contract works and project delivery to ensure quality, safety and timely completion
- Build trusted relationships with clients, providing guidance, reporting and support throughout the contract lifecycle
- Coordinate asset management, lifecycle planning, renewal programs and risk management activities
- Maintain compliance with engineering, technical and regulatory requirements while supporting strong governance practices
- Coach, mentor and support operational and administrative teams, encouraging collaboration, professional growth and a positive workplace culture
- Encourage continuous improvement through innovation, process enhancement and shared learning
- Oversee administration of the Uptick management system, including contract setup, invoicing, data integrity and workflow improvements
- Provide meaningful reporting and business insights to support informed planning and continuous improvement
Your Skills, Experience & Attributes
- Significant experience managing the financial, operational and strategic performance of a business unit, including P&L responsibility
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting and delivering successful commercial and operational outcomes within complex technical or asset-intensive environments
- Experience managing multiple contracts, projects or portfolio-based service delivery environments
- Well-developed commercial understanding, with experience supporting sustainable growth, financial stewardship and operational excellence
- Proven ability to develop collaborative teams and build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Strong understanding of governance, compliance and risk management practices
- Excellent critical thinking, planning and problem-solving skills
- Strong digital capability, with experience using operational and financial systems to generate meaningful business insights
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Asset or Facilities Management, Engineering or a related discipline (preferred)
- Postgraduate qualification (such as an MBA) or relevant professional certification (desirable)
- Experience within the fire protection or essential services sector will be highly regarded
- Full working rights in Australia (essential)
