About the Role
As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will play a key role in managing a portfolio of clients and delivering taxation, compliance, and advisory services. You will work closely with business owners, provide strategic tax advice, prepare financial statements, and support junior team members while contributing to the firm's continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, SMSFs, and individuals
- Prepare and review complex income tax returns across a range of entity structures
- Provide tax advisory services, including tax planning, business structuring, Division 7A, capital gains tax, asset protection, and small business concessions
- Deliver proactive business advisory and taxation solutions to clients
- Manage BAS, IAS, GST, FBT, payroll tax, and other compliance obligations
- Liaise directly with clients, the ATO, and external stakeholders
- Research and interpret taxation legislation and provide practical advice to clients
- Review work prepared by junior accountants and provide mentoring and technical guidance
- Build and maintain strong client relationships as a trusted advisor
- Identify opportunities to improve client outcomes and contribute to the firm's growth
About You
- CPA qualified
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years' experience in public practice accounting and taxation
- Strong experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and tax returns
- Demonstrated tax advisory experience across a broad range of client structures
- Excellent technical knowledge of Australian taxation legislation, including GST, CGT, FBT, Division 7A, and small business concessions
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple client deadlines and priorities
- Experience reviewing work and mentoring junior accountants
- A proactive, professional, and client-focused approach
