About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Functions Manager to lead the planning, sales, and execution of events across our venue. Reporting to the General Manager, you will be the key point of contact for clients from initial enquiry through to event delivery, ensuring every function — from a boardroom meeting to a 300-guest gala — runs seamlessly.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives on bringing spaces to life and building strong, repeat client relationships.
Our Spaces
Kent Town Hotel offers a versatile range of function spaces to suit any event — from our indoor-outdoor Restaurant (130 guests) and our 300-guest Function Room with dance floor and dual private bars, to the relaxed Balcony Bar (up to 150 guests) with fireplaces and chesterfield lounges, the private Billiard Room (30 guests) with its own billiard table and pinball machines, and the boardroom-style Room of Quotes (24 guests) for smaller, more private events.
Whether it's an intimate family get-together or an elaborate wedding celebration, we have the perfect space to bring any event to life.
What You'll Be Doing

Managing the end-to-end function and events process — enquiries, proposals, contracts, run sheets, and on-the-day delivery

Driving function sales and proactively building a strong pipeline of weddings, corporate events, celebrations, and private functions across all spaces

Building relationships with corporate clients, wedding planners, and repeat customers

Coordinating with kitchen, bar, and floor teams to ensure flawless event execution

Managing budgets, minimum spends, and event profitability

Leading and supporting function staff on event days

Maintaining and growing the venue's reputation as a leading Adelaide events destination
What We're Looking For

Proven experience in a functions and events role is essential — venue-based experience strongly preferred

A genuine passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences

Strong sales acumen with the ability to convert enquiries into confirmed bookings

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously

A confident communicator who builds rapport easily with clients, suppliers, and internal teams

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by the events calendar
What We Offer

Salary range $80,000 – $85,000
