Management Accountant (Payments Operations)

Salary: $76,000 – $100,000 plus superannuation (commensurate with experience)
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Management Accountant (Payments Operations) to support financial operations within a fast-paced payments environment. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, supports reconciliation and reporting processes, and contributes to the effective management of merchant payment services.
Key Responsibilities
· Preparing, analysing, and maintaining financial records related to merchant transactions and settlements
· Performing daily reconciliations of merchant settlement accounts and investigating discrepancies
· Preparing financial reports, invoices, and supporting documentation for internal and external stakeholders
· Assisting with month-end processes, including reconciliation and validation of financial data
· Monitoring and analysing financial performance of payment-related transactions
· Supporting the validation of scheme settlements and ensuring compliance with accounting and reporting standards
· Reviewing supplier invoices and reconciling them against purchase orders to ensure accuracy
· Providing financial insights to improve reporting, billing accuracy, and processing efficiency
· Supporting compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements
· Assisting with ad hoc financial analysis, reporting, and process improvement initiatives
Skills and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
· At least 2 years’ relevant experience in accounting or financial operations
· Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes
· Experience in high-volume transactional environments
· Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
Desirable
· Experience in payments, fintech, or financial services
· Understanding of card payment processing and settlement frameworks
· Progress toward or completion of CA/CPA qualification
