Primary objective
As a member of the Catering/kiosk team and under direction of the Catering Manager provide nutritious, attractive, palatable
meals to patients and clients of Katherine Hospital.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces
2. Prepare and deliver meals to patients, undertake general dishwashing and cleaning duties.
3. Attend Departmental In-Service training as required.
4. Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and accreditation process.
5. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
6. Actively participate in Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) functions both within the work unit and across the hospital.
7. Participate in Catering Services Team meetings, Staff Education and Performance Development Program.
8. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated communication skills (oral, reading, writing and comprehending English), appropriate for work
environment.
2. Ability to undertake a range of manual handling tasks and have the ability to complete delegated activities within set
time frames with minimal supervision.
3. Demonstrate punctuality and reliability in previous work history and be prepared to work weekends, public holidays,
shift work.
4. Knowledge of relevant FoodSafe, Hygiene, Infection Control Guidelines and Regulations.
5. Knowledge and understanding of diets, menu nutritional and cultural requirements for vulnerable people relevant to
health facility.
6. Previous experience working in an industrial kitchen or health care environment.
7. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures
