Join our team as a Senior Management Accountant - Business Partnering
Are you a commercially minded finance leader who enjoys partnering with stakeholders and turning financial insights into meaningful business outcomes? As our Senior Management Accountant - Business Partnering, you'll play a key role in supporting a specialised business group and senior leaders across Council with expert financial advice, budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting. Leading a small team, you'll bring strong commercial acumen, relationship-building skills and a proactive mindset to drive better decisions, support continuous improvement and make a lasting impact across the organisation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Business Partnering – Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing proactive financial support, analysis and strategic guidance that supports operational and business outcomes.
Team Leadership – Lead, mentor and develop a small team, fostering collaboration, capability and high performance.
Budgeting & Forecasting – Drive annual budgets, forecasts and financial reviews to support sound decision-making.
Financial Insights – Deliver meaningful reporting, analysis and recommendations that improve financial performance.
Strategic Problem Solving – Identify opportunities, challenges and risks, providing practical and solution-focused advice.
Stakeholder Engagement – Develop strong partnerships with leaders across the organisation to understand business needs and deliver tailored financial support.
Process Improvement – Champion enhancements to financial systems, reporting, forecasting methodologies and business processes.
Capability Building – Support and uplift financial capability across the organisation through coaching, guidance and training.
Skills and experience:
Demonstrated experience in management accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting within a complex organisation.
Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop high-performing teams.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and build trusted business partnerships.
High level of commercial and financial acumen with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
Experience providing strategic financial advice to leaders and operational business units.
Strong financial systems experience, TechnologyOne desirable but not essential and advanced reporting capabilities.
Experience using Power BI and other reporting tools to produce meaningful business insights.
Demonstrated ability to lead through change, adapt to evolving priorities and remain resilient in a dynamic environment.
Excellent communication, coaching and relationship management skills.

Eligibility:
- You'll possess a Tertiary qualification in Business or Accounting or equivalent which allows membership to CPA Australia or equivalent professional body
