Reporting to the Head of Learning Environments, this role contributes to the support and service of high-quality online learning systems to optimise performance and the use of technology for learning and teaching.
Working collaboratively with departments and directorates across Melbourne Polytechnic, you will support continuous improvement and efficiency by leveraging learning systems capabilities and ensuring optimal user experiences with educational technology systems and sites.
This position suits someone with strong educational technology and learning systems expertise who enjoys supporting staff and students, improving processes and contributing to high-quality learning and teaching outcomes.
This is a 6 months fixed-term opportunity.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to the design, development and implementation of professional development for staff in the use of educational technologies
- Develop and support academic technologies including surveys, course evaluations, e-portfolios, virtual classrooms and document repositories
- Trial emerging technologies and the use of mobile devices in online learning, teaching and assessment
- Contribute to the piloting of new approaches to online teaching, learning and assessment
- Support and maintain the technical administration and configuration of higher education courses within the Learning Management System (Moodle) and associated technologies
- Provide front-line support to staff and students
- Support Managers, Program Leaders and Heads of Program in day-to-day program operations to achieve positive client, compliance and reporting outcomes
- Provide training and mentoring to new and existing staff and contribute to the development and review of work instructions
- Promote effective teamwork and communication across stakeholder groups
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and quality across learning environments and the student experience
- An equivalent combination of training and experience, or an appropriate tertiary degree or professional qualification in education or information technology
- Proven experience managing and maintaining learning platforms such as Moodle, Catalyst and other large-scale learning systems within vocational and higher education environments
- Demonstrated experience designing, developing and implementing educational technologies including surveys, virtual classrooms, e-portfolios, digital assessment and educational applications
- Experience designing and implementing professional development programs focused on educational technologies
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to provide effective front-line support to staff and students
- Ability to build positive working relationships and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
- Advanced knowledge and skills in Microsoft applications, Strata and relevant databases
- Demonstrated commitment to Occupational Health and Safety, Anti-Discrimination, Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement
- Experience working within vocational and/or higher education environments
- Experience supporting online learning, teaching and assessment initiatives
- Knowledge of emerging educational technologies and digital learning practices
