Heckenberg Public School is a member of the Liverpool Principals Network and is located in South Western Sydney, 5km west of Liverpool. The school was built in 1965 and is an important part of the 2168 community with a current enrolment of 213 students.
The school's rich cultural backgrounds are represented with 21% of students identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and 65% of students speaking an additional language and/or dialect. There are 19 language groups represented, the main being English, Arabic, Vietnamese, Khmer and Samoan.
Heckenberg Public School has a strong culture of instructional leadership, collaboration and professional development of staff, as evidenced in the achievement of Excelling in NAPLAN Value Added across Years 3 – 5 and Years 5 – 7. The school has also been validated as Excelling in Educational Leadership, Wellbeing, and Learning Culture in the 2024 External Validation process.

Approval to teach Infants & Primary library or currently undertaking or enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage a primary school library using the Oliver Library Management System, including oversight of budgeting, technology, and resource management.
Proven ability to lead a dynamic, student-centred library environment and develop innovative programs that foster a passion for literature.
Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into quality programs and lead effective classroom practices that inspire future-focused learners in their research skills.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with a strong ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers and foster positive relationships within a diverse school community.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

This is a permanent part-time position of 2 days per week, 0.4FTE (full time equivalent).
If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 24 months.
