Sydney CBD | Full-Time | Accounting Practice
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join a well-established and growing accounting firm based in Sydney.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to develop their career within public practice, work across a diverse client portfolio and gain exposure to a broad range of accounting, tax and business advisory matters.
The Role
Working closely with senior accountants, managers and partners, you will be responsible for providing high-quality accounting and taxation services to a varied portfolio of clients across different industries.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships and sole traders
- Preparing income tax returns for individuals and business entities
- Preparing and reviewing BAS, IAS and other statutory lodgements
- Completing general ledger reconciliations and year-end adjustments
- Assisting with tax planning and compliance matters
- Preparing management reports and supporting schedules
- Maintaining accurate client records and documentation
- Liaising with clients, the ATO and other external stakeholders
- Assisting with ASIC and corporate compliance requirements
- Supporting senior accountants and managers with client advisory work
- Identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and client outcomes
- Ensuring work is completed accurately and within relevant deadlines
About You
To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:
- A degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business or a related discipline
- Previous accounting experience, ideally within an Australian accounting or professional services firm
- Knowledge of Australian taxation and accounting principles
- Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence communicating with clients and internal stakeholders
- Strong time-management skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines
- A proactive and professional approach to your work
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with accounting and tax software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, BGL or similar systems will be highly regarded
CA or CPA studies, whether completed or currently underway, will also be viewed favourably.
