Position Overview
Crunch & Coast Seafood Bar is seeking a reliable, skilled and motivated Full-Time Chef to join our team.
The Chef will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals, maintaining consistent food standards, supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen and ensuring all food safety, hygiene and workplace procedures are followed.
Our menu includes fresh and cooked seafood, fish and chips, grilled seafood, burgers, tacos, rice bowls, salads, sides and other coastal-inspired dishes.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare, portion and cook seafood and other menu items according to Crunch & Coast recipes and standards.
- Prepare fish for battered, grilled and other menu preparations.
- Cook fish, prawns, calamari, squid and other seafood products correctly and consistently.
- Prepare burgers, tacos, bowls, salads, sides and other menu items.
- Prepare ingredients including vegetables, salads, slaw, sauces, marinades and garnishes.
- Operate fryers, grills and other commercial kitchen equipment safely.
- Ensure meals are presented consistently and orders are completed efficiently.
- Maintain appropriate portion sizes and minimise unnecessary food waste.
Kitchen Operations
- Complete daily food preparation before and during service.
- Organise and maintain kitchen workstations.
- Monitor stock levels and advise management when ingredients or supplies need to be ordered.
- Receive and correctly store food deliveries.
- Rotate stock using appropriate FIFO procedures.
- Monitor food quality, freshness and expiry/use-by dates.
- Assist with stocktakes and inventory
- Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment safely.
- Good organisation and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm and organised during busy service periods.
- Strong attention to food quality, portion control and presentation.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Availability
As a Full-Time Chef, the employee must be reasonably available according to the business roster, which may include:
- Weekdays Tue-Fri
- Weekends Evenings
- Public holidays where required
Hours and roster arrangements will be managed in accordance with the employee's employment agreement and applicable workplace laws and industrial instrument.
