We are seeking an experienced Change Manager to lead organisational change initiatives within the utilities sector (electricity, gas, or water). This role is responsible for ensuring the successful adoption of business and technology transformations, including regulatory changes, digital programs, and operational improvements aligned with the evolving Australian energy landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive change management strategies for large-scale transformation programs (e.g., smart metering, CIS upgrades, digital platforms).
- Conduct impact assessments to identify effects on people, processes, and technology.
- Create change roadmaps aligned with business objectives and regulatory timelines.
- Identify and engage key stakeholders across business units, including executives, operational teams, and field staff.
- Build strong relationships to drive alignment and buy-in for change initiatives.
- Develop stakeholder engagement and communication plans.
- Design and deliver communication strategies to support change adoption.
- Collaborate with L&D teams to develop training materials and deliver training sessions.
- Ensure consistent messaging across all levels of the organisation.
- Lead the execution of change initiatives, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Monitor adoption metrics and address resistance or change impacts proactively.
- Support business readiness activities, including go-live planning and post-implementation support.
- Work closely with program managers, business analysts, and solution architects within program delivery teams.
- Integrate change management activities into Agile or Waterfall delivery frameworks.
- Establish governance frameworks, reporting, and change metrics.
- Ensure change initiatives align with Australian regulatory requirements (e.g., AEMO, AER, NEM reforms).
- Support compliance-driven initiatives and audit requirements.
- Contribute to programs related to energy transition, renewables, and customer reforms.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5–10+ years of experience in organisational change management.
- Proven experience delivering change in the utilities, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
- Experience supporting large transformation programs (e.g., system implementations, regulatory change, digital transformation).
- Strong knowledge of change management frameworks (e.g., Prosci, ADKAR, Kotter).
- Experience conducting impact assessments, stakeholder analysis, and readiness assessments.
- Ability to develop and execute communication and training strategies.
- Understanding of utility sector operations (e.g., billing, metering, network operations).
- Familiarity with Australian energy market structure and regulatory environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong facilitation and influencing capabilities.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess change impact and adoption metrics.
- Ability to work across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Skills/Experience
- Experience with major utility platforms (e.g., SAP IS-U, Oracle Utilities).
- Exposure to smart grid, renewable energy, or DER programs.
- Prosci or equivalent change management certification.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
