In this role, you'll:
Champion the adoption of emerging technologies and innovations that will transform how people move safely across NSW. Your expertise will drive evidence-based decisions, enable innovation at scale and ensure the safe integration of future mobility solutions into our transport system.
Work with the CrashLab facility, a world class accredited testing laboratory providing a wide range of national research and commercial testing services and the NSW Future Mobility Testing and Research Centre centred on the development of new and emerging vehicle and road safety technologies.
Work within the Transport Safety division, leading a portfolio of programs focused on emerging road safety and vehicle technologies, including Connected and Automated Vehicles, Intelligent Transport Systems, and Advanced Driver Assist Technologies. You will sit at the intersection of technology, policy, research and delivery, shaping how Transport prepares for the future of mobility in NSW for people and freight.
Provide strategic leadership across a complex program landscape, ensuring strong governance, assurance, and operational readiness while delivering trusted, high-level advice that shapes policy, regulatory frameworks, and strategic road safety initiatives.
Oversee research, trials and technology assessments while driving business development opportunities, translating evidence and insights into scalable solutions that enhance safety outcomes, inform policy, and strengthen testing centre capability, efficiency and commercial growth.
Build and maintain strong relationships across government, industry and academia, influencing stakeholders at an NSW and national level to align on future mobility outcomes.
Lead and develop a high-performing team of six direct reports, as well as indirect matrix resources (as required), fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement
This position is a permanent role. Your home base will be the Macquarie Park office, with hybrid working arrangements available.

About you
Motivated by delivering public value, advancing safety outcomes and shaping the future of mobility and transport safety in NSW, you are a strategic and forward-thinking leader with expertise in leading technology-enabled transformation, industry and research. You bring demonstrated:
Knowledge and understanding of, Connected and Automated Vehicles, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) as well as other road safety technologies.
Track record in leading complex research, trials, and program implementation across government, industry, and academic stakeholders.
Expertise in governance, assurance, portfolio management, and operational readiness for technology or infrastructure programs.
Strategic leadership, influencing, and stakeholder management skills at senior/executive levels, with a history of promoting innovation and organisational change.
Understanding how to balance innovation with governance, and how to translate emerging technologies into real-world outcomes.
Team leadership and capability development.
