The global energy market is currently undergoing a once in a generation transformation. Tesla Energy is at the forefront of this transition, deploying massive BESS systems across the APAC region, helping to stabilise electrical grids and reduce carbon emissions.
The Tesla Energy Network Engineering team is key to ensuring these critical assets are online and operating day and night without fail. This team is seeking a motivated Engineer to be part of the multi-functional OT team in APAC.
The ideal candidate will specialise in virtual and physical server engineering, with strong experience in Linux, modern server automation, ESXi and Windows. OT experience, and networking experience, are preferred, but not required.
This role will provide server and networking implementation, management, automation, and will contribute to a global server architecture, ensuring we meet internal and external customer requirements and industry regulations.

What You'll Do-
Deploy and manage server infrastructure at APAC energy sites

Introduce modern automation practices into traditionally legacy environments
- Work closely with other APAC OT team members, and a worldwide OT team, on designs and initiatives with a global impact

Function as a Tier 2-3 escalation point for internal teams and external clients

Gather requirements, analyse, and propose solutions to server needs

Provision, implement, test/validate, and maintain services per solution design

Conduct product POC evaluations, engage vendors and contribute to designs

Monitor, analyse, and report metrics of services

Create documentation and implement automation to speed up processes

Meet Australian critical infrastructure security requirements

Assist with supporting networks at APAC energy sites
- Must be able to work occasional weekends, after hours, and holidays

Must be able to lift 50lbs/25Kg

Participate in on call rotation

15% travel required as necessary
What You'll Bring
-
5+ years experience managing and deploying virtual and physical servers in production environments (energy or industrial sectors strongly preferred)

Strong operational experience with VMware (or equivalent) virtualization, Windows Server and Linux server administration, including deep Linux fundamentals

Experience automating server and infrastructure management or deployment using tools such as, Python, Ansible, shell scripting, PowerCLI or other modern open-source automation processes

Solid understanding of layer 2 and layer 3 networking

Strong requirements gathering, solution design, documentation, and communication skills
Desirable Skills:

2+ years managing industrial networking infrastructure

Exposure to key industrial protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP) and high-uptime critical environments

Familiarity with next-generation firewalls (e.g., Cisco ASA/Zone-Based, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Juniper SRX)

Knowledge of industrial security standards and frameworks (e.g., IEC 62443, Purdue Model, Australian SOCI Act / critical infrastructure requirements)
