We're looking for an experienced web and digital specialist to join the Communications, Engagement and Media team as Assistant Director, Web. In this role, you'll oversee the City and Environment Directorate's web presence, ensuring our websites are accessible, user-focused and meet the needs of the Canberra community.
This is more than a content publishing role. You'll drive continuous improvement across a diverse suite of websites, provide strategic advice on content design and user experience, and help deliver digital transformation initiatives aligned with ACT Government priorities. You'll work closely with communication professionals, business areas and technical specialists to ensure our online information and services are effective, compliant and easy to use.
You'll also manage and develop a small team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment while providing expert guidance on digital content and web best practice.
What you’ll do

Lead the Directorate's website presence, including content governance, publishing, administration and continuous improvement

Manage and develop a small team, providing direction, mentoring and support to achieve quality outcomes

Drive website improvement initiatives that enhance content quality, accessibility, discoverability and user experience

Provide strategic advice on content design, information architecture and user-centred digital communications

Use analytics and performance data to measure effectiveness and inform evidence-based improvements

Ensure websites meet accessibility requirements and comply with ACT Government policies, standards and best-practice guidelines

Collaborate with business areas, communication teams and technical stakeholders to deliver quality digital services and information

Support website transformation projects that improve online customer experience and align with government digital priorities
Notes: A Merit Pool may be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. This position is based in a workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
