What’s the role?
We are seeking an experienced Data and AI Chief Engineer with first-hand expertise in the design, development and implementation of AI solutions on Azure, AWS & Google public clouds, as well as on-premise environments.
The ideal candidate is well versed and certified in public cloud technologies, has relevant hands-on experience with emerging AI technologies, patterns and protocols such as LLMs, Agents, MCPs, A2A, AI Factories, Model Gardens and API’s. Hands on developer experience building solutions is essential. Financial industry experience to navigate the regulatory and security control frameworks that need to be applied is highly desirable. From day one, you will have an immediate impact on the quality and pace of AI delivery, the day-to-day efficiency of our operations, and make an impact on our overall company-wide objectives.
Your key responsibilities include:
Contribute to the evolution of the GroupTech AI and Infrastructure strategy, working collaboratively with engineering, architecture, security and business teams to design and deliver secure, resilient AI-enabled infrastructure, while developing policies, standards and “as code” control frameworks, and establishing best practices and scalable patterns that enable efficient and compliant delivery.
Provide timely status updates, actively participate in agile stand-ups, and assess and escalate potential risks early using the “should we” test.
Support the development of standardised AI platforms and patterns with built-in guardrails, contribute to cost-efficient infrastructure through optimisation and FinOps practices, assist with L4 incident support and post-mortems, collaborate with teams to simplify environments, build strong stakeholder relationships, and help uplift services towards evergreen operations.
Work collaboratively with engineering, architecture, risk and security teams to design and deliver resilient, high-performing AI-enabled services, ensuring secure and compliant infrastructure, supporting platform adoption and efficiency outcomes, and contributing to mentoring and capability uplift across L3 engineers.
What do I need?
- Over 5 years experience implementing AWS/Azure/GCP/Nvidia reference architecture.
- Relevant industry certification, such as AWS Certified Generative AI Developer, Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate or Professional Machine Learning Engineer.
- Over 2 years hands on enterprise experience with Agentic AI, LLMs and ML.
- Deep experience in several of the following areas: DevOps, Kubernetes, agentic identity and access management, microservices, networking, AI observability, automated governance & compliance.
- Experience with product evaluation and selection in conjunction with commercial teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent industry experience.
