About the Role
An exciting ongoing opportunity exists for an experienced Clinical Midwife Consultant – Maternal Fetal Medicine to join the Amber Team at Monash Women’s, based at Monash Medical Centre Clayton.
Working at the forefront of complex maternity care, you will combine advanced clinical expertise with coordination and leadership to support women with high-risk pregnancies and complex maternal and fetal conditions.
As a senior clinical resource within Maternal Fetal Medicine, you will work closely with the Amber Midwife Manager, Obstetric team and broader multidisciplinary service to ensure women receive safe, timely, coordinated and woman-centred care.
In this role, you will:
Coordinate and clinically triage Maternal Fetal Medicine referrals and bookings
Coordinate midwifery care within the Amber MFM service
Coordinate the Maternal Fetal Medicine clinic at Casey
Support specialist cardiology, renal and Fetal Growth Restriction models of care
Coordinate pathology, ultrasound, echocardiogram and clinical results follow-up
Facilitate urgent and complex appointments and escalation of care
Support specialist procedures including amniocentesis and CVS
Coordinate care for women transferring from external healthcare providers
Build strong relationships across maternity, obstetric and multidisciplinary teams
Contribute to clinical excellence, service improvement and contemporary evidence-based practice
About Maternal Fetal Medicine
The Maternal Fetal Medicine service at Monash Women’s provides specialist care for women experiencing high-risk pregnancies and complex maternal and fetal conditions.
Working across Maternal Fetal Medicine, Pregnancy Care, Fetal Diagnostic and other specialist services, our multidisciplinary teams provide highly coordinated care throughout the pregnancy journey.
This is an opportunity to become an integral part of a specialist service where advanced midwifery practice, collaboration and continuity of care directly influence the experience and outcomes of women and their families.
About You
You are an experienced midwife with strong antenatal and high-risk pregnancy experience who is ready to bring your clinical expertise to an advanced practice role.
You will bring:
Extensive antenatal experience within a high-risk maternity setting
Experience within Pregnancy Care Clinics
Strong clinical assessment, decision-making and escalation skills
A passion for supporting women experiencing complex pregnancies
Excellent communication, organisation and care coordination skills
The ability to build strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams
Confidence working autonomously while collaborating effectively with others
A commitment to evidence-based, culturally safe and woman-centred care
Experience within Maternal Fetal Medicine, fetal surveillance or fetal diagnostic services will be highly regarded.
