Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager to oversee construction and development projects from concept through to completion. The successful candidate will manage project planning, design coordination, approvals, budgeting, procurement, and construction while ensuring compliance with Australian standards, regulations, and project timelines.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architectural drafting, project management, and construction, with proficiency in CAD and Revit, and a thorough understanding of Australian building regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple construction and development projects from planning through to project completion.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and local authorities.
- Prepare and review architectural drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Ensure all project documentation complies with Australian engineering standards, the National Construction Code (NCC), and relevant legislation.
- Assess Development Control Plans (DCPs), Local Environmental Plans (LEPs), and State Environmental Planning Policies (SEPPs) applicable to project locations.
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and preliminary cost estimates using Revit and project documentation.
- Develop cost-effective construction and design solutions while maintaining quality and compliance.
- Prepare project schedules, budgets, and progress reports.
- Monitor project costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Manage tendering, procurement, and contractor selection processes.
- Coordinate development applications (DA), construction certificates (CC), and other statutory approvals.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure work quality, safety, and compliance.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Maintain effective communication with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Design, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Project Manager in the Australian construction industry.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Strong understanding of Australian engineering standards and the National Construction Code (NCC).
- Sound knowledge of Development Control Plans (DCPs), Local Environmental Plans (LEPs), and State Environmental Planning Policies (SEPPs).
- Experience preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and preliminary construction cost estimates.
- Ability to develop practical and cost-effective construction solutions.
- Strong understanding of residential and commercial construction methods and materials.
- Excellent project planning, scheduling, and budgeting skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
- Experience with DA and CC approval processes.
- Knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and construction safety requirements.
- Experience in commercial, industrial, and residential developments.
- Valid Australian Driver's Licence.
