RedGum – The Waldorf School of Central Victoria, is an established and growing Steiner school set on 18 acres of natural bushland in Muckleford (near Castlemaine), serving approximately 150 students from Kindergarten to Class 8, including a Victorian Government funded Kindergarten program.
Through a contemporary Steiner education, RedGum nurtures capable, creative, thoughtful and compassionate young people through strong relationships, connection to place, and developmentally aligned learning.
With dual reporting to the Board and Head of School (Principal), the Business Manager is a key member of RedGum’s leadership team. This role provides strategic leadership across finance, governance, risk, compliance, administration, human resources, facilities and operations, ensuring the school is sustainable, well governed and positioned to flourish.
About the Role
This is a broad and rewarding leadership position suited to someone who enjoys working across both strategy and operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Financial management, budgeting, forecasting and Board reporting
- Governance, compliance and risk management
- Human resources and employment administration
- Operational leadership across administration, finance and facilities
- Policy development and organisational systems
- Supporting the Board and Head of School to deliver the school’s strategic priorities
- Building strong systems, processes and a positive organisational culture
The Business Manager works collaboratively within RedGum’s leadership model, partnering with the Head of School to ensure educational excellence is supported by sound business management and sustainable operations.
About You
You are an experienced business, finance or operations leader who brings:
- Demonstrated leadership experience in education, not-for-profit or comparable organisations
- Strong financial management, budgeting and reporting capability
- Experience in governance, compliance and organisational risk management
- Knowledge of HR, employment obligations and operational management
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A collaborative leadership style with high levels of integrity and professionalism
- Strong organisational skills, sound judgement and a solutions-focused approach
Experience working with Boards and an understanding of the education sector will be highly regarded. An appreciation of Steiner education, or a willingness to learn, is essential.
