Pastry Cook – Part Time

An established, community-loved bakery located on the Central Coast. We pride ourselves on producing high-quality pastries, cakes, and desserts using traditional techniques, quality ingredients, and a strong team culture.
We are currently seeking a qualified Pastry Cook to join our production team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced pastry professional or a committed apprentice looking to grow their skills in a supportive environment.
About the Role
As a Pastry Cook, you will be involved in all aspects of daily pastry and bakery production, working closely with the team to deliver consistent, high-quality products.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing, mixing, baking, and finishing a wide range of pastries, cakes, slices, desserts, and baked goods
- Producing classic and modern pastry items including decorated cakes, choux pastry, éclairs, vanilla slice, tarts, Strudel, Danish, and continental cakes
- Laminating and sheeting doughs, including puff pastry, short crust and short bread
- experience with self cutting pies advantageous
- Decorating cakes and desserts with attention to detail and presentation
- Managing production schedules to meet daily output requirements
- Monitoring baking conditions to ensure consistency in texture, colour, and quality
- Maintaining cleanliness, organisation, and food safety standards at all times
- Assisting with stock control, ordering, and minimising waste
- Collaborating with shop staff and supporting a positive team environment
- Communicating with customers regarding special orders when required
About You
You are reliable, motivated, and take pride in your work. You enjoy working in a fast-paced production environment and thrive as part of a team.
To be successful, you will have:
- Trade qualification in Pastry Cooking (Certificate III or IV) or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in a pastry cook / baker role (apprentices encouraged to apply)
- Strong knowledge of pastry production techniques and food safety standards
- Experience working with laminated doughs and a range of pastry products including, short crust and short bread
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Willing to work early mornings - 3am starts
- Strong attention to detail and consistency
- A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn
- Apprentices would be considered
