Position Overview: The Motor Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining and repairing light motor vehicles, including classic and British vehicles, to ensure optimum performance, reliability and safety. The role involves using diagnostic equipment and specialised tools to identify faults, repair or replace defective components, perform scheduled maintenance and carry out mechanical repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workshop standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines and vehicle systems using diagnostic equipment and specialised tools.
2. Inspect and dismantle engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, brakes and other vehicle components.
3. Repair or replace worn or defective parts and reassemble components in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
4. Perform scheduled maintenance services including oil changes, tune-ups and routine servicing.
5. Carry out mechanical repairs and maintenance on a range of vehicles, including classic and British vehicles.
6. Test and adjust repaired components to ensure proper vehicle performance and safety.
7. Refer to manufacturer manuals and technical specifications when carrying out repairs.
8. Maintain accurate records of servicing, repairs and parts used.
Skills & Qualifications:
· Certificate III or IV in Automotive Mechanical Technology or related field.
· At least three years of relevant work experience as a Motor Mechanic or similar role.
· Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanical systems and diagnostic procedures.
· Experience using automotive diagnostic equipment and workshop tools.
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.
