The Head Chef is responsible for managing the kitchen operations, maintaining food quality, controlling food costs, and leading the kitchen team. The role ensures all menu items are prepared consistently, safely, and efficiently while maintaining high standards of hygiene and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Management
Oversee daily kitchen operations and staff supervision
Manage kitchen schedules and ensure adequate staffing
Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff
Food Preparation & Quality
Ensure all dishes are prepared to restaurant standards
Maintain consistent food quality and presentation
Develop and update menu items when required
Food Cost & Inventory
Control food cost and minimize waste
Manage ordering, stock rotation, and inventory levels
Develop recipes and maintain recipe documentation for costing purposes
Health & Safety
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards
Maintain clean and safe kitchen operations
Follow all local health authority requirements
Team Leadership
Conduct staff meetings and training
Maintain positive workplace culture
Handle staff performance issues when required
Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef
Strong leadership and kitchen management skills
Knowledge of food costing and inventory control
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.

Flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
