The Opportunity
As Vision Network, owned by Vocus, continues to expand one of Australia’s largest non-NBN™ fixed broadband networks — a Superfast Broadband network reaching more than 445,000 homes across six major Australian capitals and three regional Victorian cities — we're looking for an experienced Manager Broadband Access to lead a team of highly skilled engineers responsible for the performance, reliability and operational excellence of our broadband access networks.
This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the ongoing resilience, service assurance and operational performance of Vocus' broadband access platforms and services. You'll combine strong technical expertise with people leadership, driving continuous improvement while supporting critical customer and business outcomes.
Leading a team of Network Engineers, you will oversee operational performance, incident management, technical escalation, change governance and continuous improvement initiatives. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders, vendors and cross-functional teams to support network stability, operational readiness and successful delivery outcomes.
This role is perfect for an experienced telecommunications leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex operational challenges and is passionate about developing high-performing technical teams.
What you'll be doing
- Lead and develop the Broadband Access team, providing clear direction, accountability and performance expectations.
- Oversee the operational performance and service assurance of FTTX access networks and associated services.
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex customer-impacting incidents, faults and service disruptions.
- Provide technical leadership across major incidents, network risks, operational initiatives and project delivery.
- Drive achievement of operational KPIs, service levels and customer experience outcomes.
- Ensure operational requests, tickets, incidents and escalations are managed effectively and resolved in a timely manner.
- Maintain governance and compliance across network documentation, processes and operational standards.
- Represent the Broadband Access function during major incident management, operational reviews and service-impacting events.
- Prioritise and govern operational initiatives, engineering activities and projects to support business objectives.
- Manage vendor relationships to support service restoration, platform performance and operational outcomes.
- Ensure broadband access platforms remain current, supportable and aligned with lifecycle and release management requirements.
- Contribute strategic and technical expertise to network design, operational readiness and delivery programs.
- Coach, mentor and develop engineers to strengthen technical capability, accountability and operational maturity.
- Promote continuous improvement through process optimisation, procedural enhancements and operational discipline.
- Manage workforce planning, resource allocation and team capacity to support both BAU operations and project delivery.
- Provide oversight of change activities to ensure compliance with change management and risk governance frameworks.
- Collaborate with teams across IP Networking, Voice, Provisioning, Billing and Operations to drive successful service outcomes.
- Support after-hours escalations and critical incidents where business impact requires leadership oversight.
