Location: Neurodiverse Playhouse Spring Hill
Role type: Part-time or full-time (we're flexible because we get it)
Reports to: The kids, mostly. Also our Clinical Director.
Who We Are
Neurodiverse Playhouse isn't your average clinic. We're a vibrant, sensory-friendly space where neurodivergent kids and their families come to be understood, supported, and celebrated. Think fewer fluorescent lights and clipboards, more bean bags, fidget walls, and a team that genuinely believes different brains are brilliant brains.
Our team includes OTs, speech pathologists, psychologists, behaviour support practitioners, and one very tolerant office dog named Biscuit. We're looking for a paediatric psychiatrist to round out our crew.
Who You Are
You're a paediatric psychiatrist who:
- Lights up when a kid finally feels seen rather than "managed"
- Can hold a clinical conversation while someone hangs upside down off a couch
- Knows the DSM inside out but also knows when not to reach for it
- Believes medication is one tool in a much bigger toolbox
- Treats parents as partners, not problems
- Thinks the phrase "low support needs" deserves the same care as "high support needs"
- Doesn't flinch at echolalia, stimming, PDA, or a six-year-old monologue about train timetables (actually, you find it delightful)
What You'll Actually Do
Assess and diagnose kids with ADHD, autism, anxiety, OCD, tic disorders, mood stuff, and everything in between, often with delightful overlap. Prescribe and review medication thoughtfully and conservatively, with clear explanations for families. Collaborate weekly with our multidisciplinary team (we actually talk to each other, novel concept). Write reports humans can read. Support families through diagnosis, school advocacy, and the messy middle bits. Contribute to a culture that's warm, curious, and slightly chaotic in the best way.
What We Offer
Competitive remuneration (let's talk numbers when we meet). A real say in how the clinic runs. Admin support so you can actually be a clinician. Flexible hours, including the option to work school terms only. Generous PD budget and conference leave. A genuinely lovely team that brings baked goods on Fridays. Biscuit cuddles on demand. No KPIs that turn humans into units.
