About Us
Schlam Payload is the global expert in load and haul attachments.
Headquartered in Western Australia, one of the world’s most productive mining regions, we design and manufacture the industry’s leading mining truck bodies and buckets for hard rock operations. Backed by unmatched lifecycle support, our focus on innovation, engineering excellence, and quality has made us the partner of choice for many of the world’s leading mining companies.
About the Role
Imagine designing some of the largest mining equipment in Australia, then walking through the workshop a few weeks later to see your designs taking shape in steel.
At Schlam, you'll have a rare opportunity to work closely with the end-to-end design and manufacturing process. One month you're developing a complex dump body design, the next you're watching it being built in our workshop before heading to site and going to work in one of the world's largest mining operations.
As a Mechanical Engineer within our Engineering team, you'll play a key role in designing and maintaining large mining tray and structural product lines. Working on substantial bodies of work, you'll collaborate with engineering, operations and production teams to create detailed designs and production-ready documentation that keeps our manufacturing teams moving.
This role will suit someone who enjoys:
- Working on large, technically detailed projects
- Developing accurate and robust engineering solutions
- Creating and maintaining detailed 3D models, drawings and BOMs
- Applying a methodical and structured approach to engineering
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders across engineering, operations and manufacturing
- Seeing a project through from concept to production
What You'll Bring
- Mechanical Engineering degree (preferred) or equivalent experience
- Experience in mechanical design and engineering documentation
- Strong CAD capability, ideally SolidWorks
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Knowledge of fabrication, welding and heavy industrial equipment
- Ability to balance autonomy with collaboration
Why Join Us?
- Design equipment used by some of the world's largest mining companies
- Work closely with manufacturing and operations teams
- Be part of a business where engineering decisions directly influence the finished product
- Flexible and supportive team environment
We welcome applications from engineers of all backgrounds and experiences. If you're passionate about engineering, enjoy solving complex problems and want to see your designs come to life, we'd love to hear from you.
