As the MTB Head Mechanic, you are primarily responsible for providing exceptional customer service to all guests and ensuring that the MTB Workshop is operating at optimal levels. You will be required to familiarise yourself with Thredbo’s wide variety of mountain biking & summer activities products so you can provide the customer with accurate recommendations. Working with the MTB Operations Manager and MTB Business Manager in driving continuous improvement and overseeing all functions of the MTB Workshop. Provide positive leadership, constructive feedback and guidance to employees, as well as maintaining a strong level of knowledge to provide resort information to guests and employees.
About the role
- Develop connections to suppliers and the cycling industry, working with MTB Business Manager to ensure profits are maximised.
- Stock Controlling - Manage stocktakes, ensure stock levels are maintained. Analyse results and develop strategies to reduce stock shrinkage.
- Control the maintenance of the entire rental bike fleet.
- Scheduled maintenance records– Using Hubtiger ensure daily servicing & maintenance plan records are kept for rental fleet
- Retail Sales – Perform retail duties including assisting customers with purchases, restocking of retail store, notifying retail manager of stock levels & retail sales. Staff are required to have a good understanding & strong knowledge of the large range of products on offer. As well as to be up to date with the current MTB trends.
- Assisting in the staging of Thredbo MTB events including Cannonball MTB Festival, Australian MTB Interschools & Thredbo Gravity Series.
Skills & Experience
- Intermediate to advanced mountain bike rider with a focus on gravity riding
- 3+ Years of Bicycle Mechanic experience building and servicing, within a professional retail environment
- Previous experience and/ or appropriate level of training in supervising others
- Relative industry technical training cert. in the areas of modern suspension and braking systems
- Certificate III – Bicycle Workshop Operations or equivalent prior learning
- SRAM Tech cert.(level 1), Shimano T.E.C.
- Fox Technical Training – Basic Course
- Proficient in the use of POS systems and inventory software
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
