An exciting opportunity exists to join Beechworth Health Service as our Communications & Community Engagement Officer.
We are looking for someone with strong communication and writing skills who can build positive relationships, manage competing priorities and work independently. Experience in communications, community engagement or a related field is essential, with health, aged care, community services or public sector experience highly regarded.
This is a varied role for someone who enjoys bringing people and information together. You will manage BHS’s key communication channels, including our website, intranet, staff newsletter and social media, and help ensure our communications are clear, engaging and accessible.
You will also support community and consumer engagement, working closely with Health Promotion, and other teams across BHS to promote our services and strengthen connections with our community. The role also coordinates the BHS Cultural Safety Working Group and supports our consumer partnership and health literacy activities.
Key Selection Criteria:

Demonstrated experience in communications, community engagement or a related role.

High-level written communication and editing skills, with the ability to develop clear, accurate and engaging content for different audiences.

Experience managing digital communication channels, including websites, intranets and social media.

Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and engage with community members, consumers and internal and external stakeholders.

Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver agreed activities within timeframes.

Understanding of accessible communication, health literacy, inclusion and culturally safe engagement.

Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and appropriately manage sensitive or confidential information.
Desirable

Experience within health, aged care, community services or the public sector.

Knowledge of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and/or Aged Care Quality Standards.

Experience engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations.

Relevant qualification in communications, community engagement, public relations, marketing or a related discipline.
