Beef & Bar Restaurant is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our professional kitchen team in Darwin. We are looking for a skilled culinary professional who can consistently prepare high-quality meals, contribute to menu development and perform effectively in a busy restaurant environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present high-quality meals in accordance with restaurant standards.
- Plan menus and contribute to the development of new dishes and seasonal specials.
- Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
- Ensure appropriate portion control, presentation and consistency of meals.
- Prepare and cook food using a range of techniques, including grilling, roasting, frying, sautéing and baking.
- Estimate food requirements and assist with ordering ingredients and kitchen supplies.
- Monitor stock levels, food storage and inventory to minimise waste.
- Ensure food is stored and handled in accordance with food safety requirements.
- Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene, cleanliness and sanitation.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety requirements.
- Accommodate customer dietary requirements and special requests where appropriate.
- Assist with training and supervising kitchen staff, including cooks and kitchen hands.
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure efficient and timely meal service.
- Assist in controlling food costs and maintaining efficient kitchen operations.
Skills & Experience
- Relevant commercial cookery qualification or equivalent industry experience.
- Previous experience working as a Chef in a busy restaurant or commercial kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- Good understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
- Ability to maintain quality and consistency during busy service periods.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a kitchen team.

- Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
