Psychedeli Canberra is seeking a skilled and dependable Cook to join our team on a full-time permanent basis for 38 hours per week. This role requires a candidate who can perform a range of cooking and kitchen support tasks in a structured commercial kitchen environment, consistent with industry standards in Australia.

Position Details
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $75,000 – $80,000 per annum + statutory superannuation
Hours: Minimum 38 hours per week
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing and cooking a range of dishes in accordance with established recipes and menu requirements
- Assisting in food preparation tasks including washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning ingredients
- Cooking and plating food items to ensure consistency in quality, taste, and presentation
- Following instructions and kitchen procedures as directed by senior kitchen staff
- Monitoring food during preparation and cooking to ensure it meets required standards
- Maintaining a clean and organised work area, including equipment and utensils
- Ensuring food is stored, handled, and rotated in compliance with food safety standards
- Assisting with stock control, including checking deliveries and storing supplies appropriately
- Working effectively during busy service periods to meet operational demands
- Adhering to workplace health and safety and hygiene regulations at all times
- Supporting other kitchen team members to ensure smooth daily operations
Skills and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, applicants must demonstrate:
- A relevant qualification equivalent to Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or equivalent industry experience
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience in a commercial kitchen environment
- Practical knowledge of preparing a variety of dishes within a modern Australian or similar cuisine setting
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and safe work practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and consistency in food preparation
- Reliability and a professional work ethic
