Summary
Our client, Xequipment, is an Australian heavy machinery and equipment business specialising in the wholesale and retail distribution of industrial and construction equipment, including forklifts, excavators, loaders, aerial work platforms, energy storage solutions, spare parts and related support services. The business supplies equipment to customers across the construction, warehousing, logistics, materials handling and industrial sectors. In addition to distributing products from established third-party manufacturers, our client also develops, markets and sells its own branded equipment and product lines throughout Australia.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead the development, implementation and ongoing management of quality assurance systems across its own-branded heavy machinery, forklift, spare parts, equipment and equipment support operations.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing quality standards, inspection processes, supplier quality controls, internal audits, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives. A key focus of the role will be ensuring that our client's own-branded products consistently meet required quality, safety, performance, documentation and customer satisfaction standards before and after supply to the Australian market.
The position will work closely with management, sales, procurement, warehouse, service, supplier and customer support teams to identify quality risks, maintain compliance with internal quality procedures and drive continuous improvement outcomes. The role will also support the ongoing growth of the business by strengthening quality management frameworks for both supplier-sourced equipment and proprietary product lines, enhancing documentation and reporting processes, and ensuring a systematic and proactive approach to product and operational quality.
The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop, implement and maintain the company’s quality assurance policies, procedures and systems.
- Establish and monitor quality control procedures for the company’s self-branded machinery and equipment to ensure compliance with internal quality standards, technical specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee quality assurance activities throughout the product lifecycle, including inspection planning, supplier quality assessments, documentation management, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyse quality data, inspection results, defect trends and supplier performance metrics to identify recurring quality issues, recommend corrective and preventive actions, and support ongoing improvements to product reliability and operational quality standards.
- Review customer complaints, warranty claims, equipment performance concerns and service feedback relating to both third-party supplied equipment and Xequipment’s own-branded products to identify root causes and implement quality improvement actions.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
- A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Quality Management, Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or a related discipline is desirable.
- Alternatively, at least five years of relevant quality assurance, quality management, equipment operations, machinery, manufacturing, supply chain or technical management experience.
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience in quality assurance, quality management, equipment operations, machinery distribution, manufacturing, supply chain, technical service, industrial products or a related field.
- Experience developing, implementing or maintaining quality assurance systems, inspection processes, audit programs and corrective action procedures.
- Experience in a machinery, equipment, automotive, industrial products, warehousing, logistics, manufacturing or technical service environment is highly regarded.
- Experience with electric machinery, lithium-powered equipment, energy storage products, new energy construction machinery or related industrial equipment is desirable.
- Experience managing product quality issues, supplier non-conformances, warranty claims, customer complaints and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience working with imported equipment, supplier documentation, technical specifications, spare parts, battery-powered machinery, electric drive systems or after-sales support processes is desirable.
- Experience coordinating with suppliers, service providers, warehouse teams, sales teams and management to resolve quality and operational issues.
SKILLS
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance, quality control and continuous improvement.
- Ability to develop and maintain quality systems and procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of supplier quality management, product inspections and customer complaint handling.
- Practical understanding of quality requirements in machinery, forklifts, construction equipment, electric machinery and new energy equipment environments.
- Ability to review technical specifications, supplier documents, inspection records and quality issues relating to machinery, lithium-powered equipment, energy storage products and related components.
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Due to the volume of applicants, only those meeting the minimum standards will be considered and only successful applicants will be contacted. Thank you for your interest in the role.
