We are seeking a skilled, passionate, and self-motivated Diesel Mechanic/Fitter to join our dedicated team on a full-time basis.
Position Overview
Role: Diesel Fitter/Mechanic
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Package: $140,000 – $168,000 p.a. (Exclusive of Superannuation, Inclusive of Accommodation Support)

Key Tasks & Duties
As a Diesel Fitter/Mechanic at CDY Diesel Service, your daily duties will include:
Diagnostics & Fault Finding: Conducting comprehensive electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic diagnostics on heavy diesel engines, trucks, earthmoving machinery, and fleet equipment.
Maintenance & Servicing: Performing scheduled preventative maintenance, oil and fluid changes, and safety inspections to manufacturer standards.
Engine & Component Overhauls: Stripping, repairing, reassembling, and testing diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, fuel systems, and braking systems.
Hydraulic & Auto-Electrical Repairs: Inspecting, testing, and replacing hydraulic pumps, hoses, cylinders, wiring looms, starters, and alternators.
Field & Workshop Service: Executing both workshop repairs and field service call-outs to client sites across the region.
Safety & Compliance: Maintaining clean, safe work spaces and adhering strictly to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) protocols and heavy vehicle road safety standards.
Documentation: Accurate completion of work orders, job safety analyses (JSAs), parts requests, and service logs.
Key Selection Criteria (Qualifications & Skills)
Trade Qualification: Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or Automotive Diesel Engine Technology (or equivalent trade certificate).
Experience: Proven post-trade experience working on heavy transport, trucks, or heavy mobile machinery.
ANZSCO Alignment: AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3) in the field
At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
Licensing: Valid Australian Driver’s Licence (HR/HC licence highly regarded).
Problem Solving: Strong diagnostic ability with modern scanning tools and mechanical systems.
Work Ethic: Punctual, safety-focused, and capable of working independently or within a workshop team.
