With consistent customer demand and strong turnover, the business requires structured retail management to oversee operations, maintain compliance, and drive commercial performance.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Retail Manager to take full responsibility for the planning, organisation, and control of our service station and retail operations.
This is a senior role requiring independent decision-making, financial oversight, staff management, and responsibility for achieving business performance targets in line with company objectives.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The Retail Manager will be responsible for the following core duties:
- Planning, directing and coordinating the overall operations of the service station and retail store
- Determining product mix, stock levels, pricing strategies, and service standards to optimise profitability
- Developing and implementing purchasing, marketing, and promotional strategies to drive sales growth
- Managing inventory systems, stock control procedures, and supplier relationships to ensure efficiency and cost control
- Monitoring financial performance, preparing budgets, analysing sales data, and implementing cost control measures
- Maintaining accurate financial, stock, and operational records in line with business and regulatory requirements
- Recruiting, training, supervising, and performance-managing staff, including setting KPIs and conducting evaluations
- Preparing staff rosters and managing labour costs in line with operational needs
- Ensuring a high standard of customer service and handling escalated customer complaints and issues
- Ensuring full compliance with workplace health and safety (WHS), environmental regulations, and fuel handling standards Implementing and enforcing company policies, procedures, and operational standards
- Monitoring store presentation, cleanliness, and safety to maintain a professional retail environment
- Liaising with business owners and stakeholders regarding performance, improvements, and operational outcomes
Essential Skills & Experience
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- AQF Diploma or higher qualification in Business, Retail Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in a retail management role with demonstrated responsibility for business operations
- Proven experience in managing staff, including recruitment, supervision, and performance management
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and cost control
- Strong understanding of inventory management and supply chain coordination
- Sound knowledge of WHS, environmental compliance, and retail regulatory requirements
- Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to make independent operational and financial decisions
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Availability to work weekends and public holidays as required
