Hope Island Veterinary Surgery is seeking an experienced Senior Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team on a permanent full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled veterinary nurse who is ready to take the next step in their career.
As a Senior Veterinary Nurse, you'll combine hands-on nursing with leadership responsibilities, supporting the day-to-day operation of the clinic while helping mentor and develop our nursing team. Working closely with our veterinarians and leadership team, you'll play a key role in maintaining high clinical standards, delivering exceptional patient care, and fostering a positive team culture.
About the Role As our Senior Veterinary Nurse, you will be responsible for:
- Leading and supporting the nursing team during daily operations
- Mentoring and coaching nurses to build skills and confidence
- Assisting with workflow coordination and ensuring smooth clinic operations
- Providing high-quality patient care across medicine, surgery, and hospital cases
- Performing nursing duties including pathology, radiography, anaesthesia monitoring, treatments, hospital care, and client communication
- Supporting training, process improvement, and clinical excellence initiatives
- Promoting a positive team culture aligned with our values

About You We're looking for someone who:
- Holds a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology
- Has 3+ years of veterinary nursing experience, with some leadership or mentoring experience preferred
- Demonstrates strong clinical nursing skills and confidence across a variety of cases
- Thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Is passionate about animal welfare and patient care
- Brings a positive, solutions-focused attitude and enjoys supporting others' development
