Your New Role:
We're looking for a creative and proactive Communications Officer to join our Communications Team. Working collaboratively across the organisation, you'll develop and deliver engaging, accurate and timely communications that keep our community and employees informed about Council's services, projects, initiatives and decisions. Through strategic communication and compelling content, you'll help enhance Council's reputation and strengthen community engagement.
This is a varied and hands-on role where you'll work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to plan and deliver communication campaigns, create content for multiple channels, and provide communications advice and support. You'll also use audience insights and analytics to evaluate performance and continuously improve communication outcomes.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Develop, implement and evaluate communication plans and campaigns to support Council projects, services and initiatives.
- Manage communication projects from planning through to delivery and evaluation.
- Monitor and maintain Council's digital communication channels, including website and social media content.
- Produce and coordinate communication materials, ensuring quality, consistency, Plain English principles and adherence to Council's branding guidelines.
- Support the delivery and promotion of Council events, community engagement activities and multimedia content, including photography and video where required.
- Monitor media coverage and emerging issues, providing timely advice to relevant stakeholders.

About You:
You are an enthusiastic communications professional with excellent writing skills, strong attention to detail and a passion for engaging diverse audiences. You enjoy building positive relationships, collaborating with stakeholders and translating complex information into clear, accessible communications.
Essential Requirements
- Qualifications in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, advertising or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- A current NSW Driver Licence.
- Experience developing and delivering communication plans, campaigns or projects within a communications, media or marketing environment.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including editing and proofreading.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Sound judgement, initiative and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong research, analytical and reporting skills.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality communications that inform, engage and build community trust.
It would be an advantage if you also have experience using content management systems, Mailchimp, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and social media platforms, along with experience creating digital content, graphics, photography or video.
