Botanist - Graduate to Early Career
Graduate or Early Career Botanist
Perth, WA
Build your botanical career across some of Western Australia's most diverse environments
Are you passionate about Western Australia's unique flora and looking for an opportunity to build your career alongside experienced botanists?
RPS, a Tetra Tech company, is looking for a Graduate or Early Career Botanist to join our growing Environmental Planning and Approvals team in Perth.
As our Western Australian business continues to grow, particularly across environmental approvals, impact assessment and renewable energy projects, we're looking for someone who is eager to learn, enjoys fieldwork and wants to develop their technical skills as part of a supportive and highly experienced team.
Whether you've recently graduated with solid field experience or already have a few years of consulting or industry experience, we'd love to hear from you.
Why join our team?
Our botanists work across an incredibly diverse range of projects and landscapes throughout Western Australia. Rather than specialising in a single industry, you'll gain exposure to projects spanning renewable energy, infrastructure, urban development and resources.
Our work takes us across the:
- Swan Coastal Plain
- Wheatbelt
- Mid West
- Pilbara
- Kimberley
- South West, supported by our Margaret River office
You'll have the opportunity to work in places that few people ever get to experience while developing your botanical expertise across some of Australia's most unique ecosystems.
Just as importantly, you'll be joining a team that enjoys sharing knowledge. You'll work alongside experienced botanists who are committed to mentoring early career professionals and helping them build confidence in field surveys, data analysis and technical reporting.

- Desktop studies
-
Rehabilitation and vegetation health monitoring
-
Flora identification
- Technical reporting to support environmental approvals
- Statistical analysis of data where appropriate
- Off-road and long-distance driving
You'll spend time both in the field and in the office, developing practical skills while contributing to projects that support responsible environmental management across Western Australia.
About you
We're looking for someone with curiosity, enthusiasm and a genuine interest in Western Australian flora.
You will ideally have:
- A degree in Botany, Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline
- Botanical field survey experience and plant identification skills gained through university, consulting or industry
- Strong written communication and report writing skills
- An interest in vegetation data analysis and ecological interpretation
- Experience using PRIMER or similar statistical software, or a willingness to learn
- A collaborative approach and eagerness to learn from experienced colleagues
- A current Australian driver's licence and willingness to drive off-road and long distances
-
Flexibility to undertake regional and remote fieldwork
- GIS analysis skills desirable
Applicants may range from recent graduates with strong practical field experience through to early career or mid-level botanists looking to broaden their experience.
What we offer
You'll join a collaborative team that values technical excellence, professional development and genuine mentoring.
You will also benefit from:
-
Competitive salary
- Flexible working arrangements
- Certified Family Inclusive Workplace
- Professional membership reimbursement
- Paid parental and partner leave
- $250 Active Lifestyle Allowance
