About the Role
If you have experience in public health, settings-based nutrition promotion or policy-relevant research and are passionate about creating healthier, more equitable futures for children, then we want to hear from you. Flinders University’s College of Health and Enablement is seeking a Research Fellow to lead innovative research that has the potential to transform school food systems and influence policy at scale.
This exclusive role will drive forward a partnership between Flinders University and the South Australian Department for Education, where you will have the opportunity to independently manage and execute school food evaluation research guided by an annual work plan co-designed with the Department for Education. You will support the coordination and execution of a range of school food research projects. You will also have the opportunity to deliver meaningful work across the following responsibilities:
Overseeing the co-design of an annual workplan that meets the needs of partners, Flinders University and South Australian Department of Education. Additionally, leading the implementation of this workplan.
Coordinating the work of the Thinking Outside the Lunchbox project and to successfully deliver project milestones and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Making independent and original contributions to the planning and execution of research design, project management, research activities, implementation and analysis, writing up results and outcomes dissemination.
Contributing to the submission of research grants and funding applications.
This position makes a significant contribution to the University’s strategic plan to changing 10 million lives, Every One Matters, by 2035 directly connecting the Strategic Driver of ‘Research that matters’ . The primary purpose of this role is to deliver solutions that drive fit for purpose school-based nutrition promotion that provides impact and value for our growing communities.
About You
You are a proactive and organised professional who uses sound judgement and initiative to independently successfully manage, organise and coordinate a range of research, project management and evaluative health related activities. You are an excellent communicator with strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills, effortlessly enabling you build positive, productive relationships with colleagues, students and a broad range of external stakeholders. To be successful in this role, you will also be able to demonstrate:
Completion of a PhD in a health‐related discipline or equivalent research experience in a discipline relevant to Public Health, Health Promotion, Nutrition and Dietetics, Education, Psychology, project management of Complex research projects.
Quality research outputs in terms of publications and presentations at a local and/or national level.
Demonstrated experience in research methodology, specifically at least one of: (a) program evaluation, (b) school-based research and (c) intervention research.
Demonstrated experience delivering project targets on time, to a high standard.
