Associate Manager, Commercial Partnerships and Events
We are seeking an Associate Manager, Commercial Partnerships and Events to bring bold ideas, strong commercial judgement and exceptional delivery skills to a role that turns MHNSW’s iconic places into memorable experiences, powerful partnerships and meaningful opportunities for audiences and visitors.

Clerk Grade 7/8. Remuneration package includes salary ($116,981 - $129,49- , employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

Full-time employment on a temporary basis for a period up to two years.

What we do
Museums of History NSW brings together a portfolio of iconic museums, rich collections and heritage sites, the nation’s oldest archive collection, vital recordkeeping services and expert staff.
We bring history to life by sharing the stories of our places and collections. Through the State Archives Collection, we manage NSW’s official documentary heritage, supporting government transparency and the public’s right to access information.
These two roles do not just sit side by side – they inform and enrich each other. By preserving and making accessible our places, collections and archives, we create opportunities for people to explore the past and better understand their own place in the world. By supporting lifelong learning and inviting people to come together, we promote civic literacy, empathy, wellbeing and belonging.

Museums of History NSW is a state cultural institution, established under the Museums of History NSW Act 2022. It is an agency of the NSW Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport (DCITHS).
What you'll do with us:
Coordinate and deliver commercial activations, hospitality partnerships and venue-based initiatives that enhance visitor engagement, venue utilisation and commercial outcomes across MHNSW properties, while supporting the delivery of MHNSW-hosted events and experiences that strengthen brand profile and audience reach.

What you need to tell us - Targeted questions:
1. Tell us about a time when you identified and developed a commercial partnership or activation opportunity that increased revenue, audience engagement, or brand visibility. How did you identify the opportunity, gain stakeholder support, negotiate the arrangement, and measure success?
2. Describe a situation where you coordinated a complex event, activation, or venue-based initiative involving multiple internal and external stakeholders with competing priorities. What challenges arose, how did you manage risks and stakeholder expectations, and what was the outcome?
Essential requirements of the role:

Relevant tertiary qualifications in event management or business-related subject and/or a minimum of 5 years or more experience in producing commercial events, activations, and hospitality related activities.

Experience and proven track record working within a commercial activation business framework, contributing to achieve strong growth in revenue and audience.

Proven experience in working in a cross-functional team environment with a strong commitment to high level of customer service.

Ability to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, build and maintain effective relationships with MHNSW teams, leaseholds, commercial partners, and suppliers to deliver organisational priorities.

Strong negotiation and influencing skills with highly developed written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to customer service delivery.

Ability in managing multiple commercial activations, working to set budgets and targets and assist in developing long term commercial partnerships combined with a working knowledge of CRM systems.

Willingness to work across and ability to travel to multiple work locations.
