The Group Operations team provide outstanding strategic-level technical, project management and operational capabilities, procurement and supply chain delivery whilst ensuring cross-business coordination and collaboration.
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex and strategic infrastructure projects through AusNet’s project management- and stage-gated governance framework and delivers business improvement initiatives that improve project and portfolio performance. It is also responsible for quality assurance reviews for priority AusNet projects to strengthen governance compliance, decision quality and delivery confidence.
What you’ll be doing in this role:
Guides the development of strategic infrastructure projects in accordance with AusNet’s project management- and stage-gated governance frameworks
Leads and delivers strategic business improvement initiatives that strengthen project and portfolio performance
Conducts quality assurance reviews for priority AusNet projects to assess governance compliance, project readiness and the quality of key project deliverables
Provides leadership and expertise in project management, guidance in project governance and assurance requirements for projects, teams and business stakeholders
Supports the development of business cases, project management plans, schedules and approval materials required for project progression through project governance stage gates
Ensure that project risks, issues and gaps are clearly identified and managed in line with the Project Risk Management Framework and works with stakeholders to develop appropriate risk treatment options, mitigations and improvement actions,
Ensures that good project management practices are implemented in line with recognised Project Management bodies and Standards, AusNet PM frameworks, policies and processes.
Builds effective relationships across project teams, Group Operations and corporate support functions to enable successful project development and assurance outcomes
Prepares clear, concise reporting, recommendations and presentations for stakeholders and governance forums
Promotes continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned, good practice and insights across projects and the broader portfolio
Ensures project risks are identified, managed and mitigated in line with risk framework.
Demonstrated ability to create, build and grow stakeholder/vendor relationships
Demonstrated ability to develop, coach, mentor, empower and support project team to achieve targets
Safe delivery of assigned projects
Actively collaborates to share insights, lessons learned and wins widely with others
You don’t need to check every box, however we’re looking for a good combination of:
Degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, a related discipline.
PMI Project Management Professional Certification, APM PMQ certification or AXELOS Program and Project Management Qualification or Certification
10+ years’ post‑graduate commercial and/or project management experience delivering large‑scale infrastructure projects.
5 – 10 years of experience in end-to-end project management
Demonstrated experience developing large infrastructure projects ( >50Mn AUD) through planning, design and internal approvals
Demonstrated experience in managing/executing projects under a stage-gated governance framework from Development through to FID and through Delivery.
Experience conducting quality assurance, stage gate approvals reviews, project health checks or execution readiness reviews for capital or infrastructure projects
Strong commercial acumen including business case development, socialisation and approval. Contracts management experience is a must.
Proven experience with implementing organisational change (people, process and technology)
Significant stakeholder management up to and including Executive & General Manager
Well-developed report writing and presentation skills
Effective interpersonal, negotiating and facilitating skills
