Light Vehicle Mechanic Apprentice

About the Role
We are looking for a Light Vehicle Mechanic Apprentice to join our team at our Windsor workshop.
This is an opportunity for someone who is passionate about cars and wants to build a long-term career in the automotive industry. You will work on a wide range of vehicles and develop practical skills across servicing, diagnostics, repairs and general mechanical work.
No previous automotive experience is required. However, preference will be given to applicants who have already commenced a Light Vehicle Mechanic apprenticeship or who have previous hands-on experience working with cars or in an automotive workshop.
You will be given the opportunity to carry out your own work as your skills develop, while having experienced mechanics available to provide guidance and support when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform logbook servicing and scheduled maintenance
- Carry out routine servicing and repairs
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment
- Carry out repairs and component replacements
- Perform brake, suspension, steering and cooling system repairs
- Undertake engine repairs and other mechanical work
- Use modern vehicle diagnostic scan tools and workshop equipment
- Work across a wide range of vehicle makes and models
- Complete work efficiently and to a high standard
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop
- Complete required TAFE and apprenticeship training
Skills and Experience
No previous automotive experience is required for the right candidate.
We would prefer applicants who have:
- Already commenced a Light Vehicle Mechanic apprenticeship
- Previous hands-on experience working with cars or in an automotive workshop
- Completed automotive studies, a pre-apprenticeship or school-based automotive program
- A genuine interest in cars and the automotive industry
You will also need to be:
- Reliable and punctual
- Hardworking and willing to learn
- Able to follow instructions and take direction
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Someone who takes pride in their work
- Committed to completing their apprenticeship and becoming a qualified mechanic
