Infrastructure Manager , you’ll support our progressive and authentic firm as we right wrong. Reporting to the General Manager – Cyber Security and IT Operations, and based in our Brisbane CBD head office in a hybrid work pattern, you’ll be responsible for delivering Shine’s underlying infrastructure, at agreed service levels, to support our teams to Right Wrong for our clients.
Managing a small team with diverse skillsets, you and your team will proactively monitor, manage and maintain Shine’s internal and external hosted environments to deliver the secure, stable and reliable technical platforms which underpin our business critical applications and services. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that key activities such as capacity planning, availability management, patching and backups are all effectively carried out.
This role is a perfect mix of both solution design, and leading the day to day maintenance of our IT systems. You’ll guide the troubleshooting and resolution of both on-prem and cloud infrastructure incidents, evaluate new technologies, patching and compliance activities, and assist with project works efficiently and effectively. And we’ll turn to you for recommendations and solution design with regards to continual improvement and modernisation.

You’ll be working in a full Microsoft shop, in a primarily Azure environment. We’ve had good investment in this space, so you’ll work across a broad range of modern tech. We’re also really passionate about cybersecurity, so you’ll gain plenty of exposure to this space, too.
Here’s how you’ll help us stay ahead of the pack:
- Lead the team in efficiently troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues to minimize downtime.
- Oversee the maintenance of comprehensive documentation of systems, processes, and procedures, promoting consistency and accuracy across team contributions.
- Guide the team in engaging with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver effective infrastructure solutions and improvements, fostering a customer-centric culture within the team.
- Manage and mentor team members in coordinating IT infrastructure projects, ensuring timely delivery through clear delegation, progress tracking, and support.
- Empower your team to identify and implement process improvements, facilitating brainstorming sessions and remove barriers to change.
- Lead efforts to continuously mature our IT environment, including fully transitioning to cloud solutions and driving improvements to our disaster recovery solutions.
- Champion strong relationships between your team and other IT and business units.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the organization's technical strategy.
What you’ll bring. To thrive in this role, you’ll have:
- Significant demonstrated experience in a System Administrator role, supporting and integrating a broad range of systems and communications infrastructure across a multi-site organisation.
- Success in leading high-performing teams, including providing mentorship, coaching, and professional development to team members to foster growth, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and a proactive approach to IT management.
- Understanding of best practice infrastructure management, including ITIL.
- Skills and experience in managing vendors to deliver outcomes and resolve issues within contracted parameters.
- A strong focus on security best practices and principles.
- Familiarity with Azure IAAS, PAAS, and other Azure services.
- Extensive experience with Windows Server administration, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, File Services and DFS/AFS.
- Expertise in On-prem DCs and Entra ID, Enterprise Applications/SSO, application registrations, storage accounts, cost management, and security models.
- Microsoft 365 Administration skills, managing Teams, OneDrive, and Exchange.
- Experience with Windows desktop SOE deployment and management using SCCM and Microsoft Intune.
- Proficiency in backup and recovery solutions, and disaster recovery concepts.
- Familiarity with Mail gateways and DNS filtering, such as Cloudflare, Mimecast and Cisco Umbrella.
- Familiarity with administering Microsoft SQL databases.
- Expertise in virtualization technologies such as VMWare, Hyper-V, and Hyperflex.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field will be highly regarded, but are not essential for success.
