About the Role:
As the Manager, Budget, you will:
Develop and implement budget policies, procedures and practices which facilitate and support financial management within the Department.
Contribute to improved resource allocation and financial management by leading and directing the development of the Department's corporate and operational budgets including establishing the necessary links between the capital and operating budgets and plans.
Provide high level and detailed analysis and advice to senior management and other key stakeholders on complex and sensitive financial and project management issues to support the delivery of the department's financial management practices.
Responsibilities Include:
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
Provide leadership, direction, and advice to support staff at all levels including senior executives on complex and diverse management accounting issues, consistent with the department's business objectives.
Ensure delivery of the financial management requirements of the annual State Budget for the preparation of the Service Delivery Statements and briefing notes to the Minister in relation to the Cabinet Budget Review Committee and the Estimates Committee hearing.
Lead the high-quality review and analysis of complex issues, proposals, submissions, and other material to ensure that financial and related issues impacting on the position's area(s) of responsibility are appropriately identified and considered.
Establish and maintain strategic, collaborative, and effective working relationships within the department and across government agencies and other external bodies. Represent the division in high level negotiations and discussions as required.
Provide direction, guidance and leadership to staff, manage their work performance and provide appropriate feedback.
Encourage team to seek continuous improvement based on best practice approaches.
About You:
It would be highly desirable to have the following skills and experience:
Have exceptional communication and relationship building skills;
Be able to plan ahead and anticipate stakeholder needs, as well as juggle multiple priorities; and
Have experience with budget coordination in government organisations.
