General Hand / Delivery Driver – Factory Site
Location: Kingsgrove, NSW
Employment: Full-Time or Part-Time (minimum 20 hours per week)
Immediate Start Available
We are looking for a reliable, practical and self-motivated General Hand / Delivery Driver to help maintain and support our large factory site in Kingsgrove.
This is a varied, hands-on position suited to someone who likes to keep busy, takes pride in their workplace and is confident taking responsibility for keeping a factory clean, organised, safe and running efficiently.
A key part of this role is being self-managed and taking ownership of the site. We are looking for someone who can walk around the factory, identify what needs attention and get it done without needing to be constantly given a list of jobs.
The role also involves helping establish and maintain good workplace practices across the factory. You will be expected to identify issues, introduce sensible routines and make sure agreed site rules and standards are being followed by everyone working in the factory.
The Role
Your duties will include:
- Occasional deliveries and pickups using a small truck
- General factory cleaning and tidying
- Keeping work areas, storage areas and common areas clean and organised
- Cleaning staff amenities and facilities
- Mowing lawns and maintaining outdoor areas
- General site and property maintenance
- Minor handyman jobs and repairs
- Identifying things that need cleaning, repairing or maintaining and taking care of them
- Helping establish practical clean and safe work practices throughout the factory
- Implementing simple routines and systems to keep the site organised
- Keeping walkways, work areas, storage areas and access points clear and safe
- Identifying unsafe, untidy or inefficient practices and taking action to have them corrected
- Making sure factory workers follow the site rules and procedures that have been put in place
- Following up when tools, materials, rubbish or equipment have not been stored or handled correctly
- Raising maintenance, safety or housekeeping issues with management when they require further attention
- Helping maintain a workplace where cleanliness, organisation and safety are everyone's responsibility
What We're Looking For
You must:
- Hold a current driver's licence – a forklift licence would be an advantage, but is not essential
- Have previous small truck driving experience – a standard car licence is sufficient
- Be physically fit and active
- Be comfortable performing cleaning and general maintenance duties
- Have basic handyman skills, including using basic power tools
- Be reliable and punctual
- Be able to work independently
- Have good common sense and initiative
- Be organised and capable of managing your own daily priorities
- Be confident communicating with factory workers when something needs to be cleaned, moved, corrected or done differently
- Be comfortable ensuring agreed workplace rules and standards are followed
- Have the confidence to speak up when you see something that is unsafe, untidy or not being done correctly
Most importantly, we want someone who is mature, self-motivated and doesn't need to be constantly told what to do.
If you notice something is dirty, clean it. If something needs putting away, put it away. If the lawns need doing, do them. If something minor is broken and you can fix it, fix it.
And if you see something happening around the factory that is unsafe, creating unnecessary mess or not following the agreed site procedures, we expect you to address it rather than simply walk past it.
The right person will essentially take ownership of the day-to-day condition of the site – keeping it clean, tidy, organised and safe, helping maintain good work practices and ensuring the standards put in place are being followed.
You will also assist with deliveries and general factory duties as required.
About the Workplace
We operate a manufacturing facility in Kingsgrove.
You will generally be left to work independently and manage your own workload. This role therefore requires someone who is comfortable taking responsibility rather than waiting for instructions.
While you will work closely with factory staff, you will also play an important role in maintaining the standards expected across the site.
This is an active, hands-on role. There will always be something around the site that can be cleaned, organised, maintained, repaired or improved.
If you are practical, dependable, confident dealing with people, enjoy working independently and take pride in maintaining a well-run workplace, we'd like to hear from you.
