An exciting opportunity exists for an Advanced Trainee in Geriatric Medicine to join the dynamic and supportive Aged Care team across Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) and North Shore Private Hospital (NSPH). Trainees benefit from a comprehensive and varied training experience spanning acute, perioperative, consultative, community and private hospital geriatrics.
As part of a major tertiary referral centre, you will develop expertise in the assessment and management of frailty, dementia, delirium, falls, complex multimorbidity, polypharmacy and perioperative care of older adults.

What you'll be doing
To provide effective clinical management of patients, under appropriate supervision, including patient assessment, making treatment decisions, performing procedures and maintaining adequate medical records; and to develop expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. This includes supervised medical management of patients admitted to Aged Care departments and provision of Aged Care consultations to other specialties.
The Advanced Trainee will be required to rotate across inpatient Wards (Royal North Shore), Community Aged Care Rapid Response Team (ARRT, North Shore and Ryde areas) Orthogeriatric/Perioperative/Surgical Consultations (Royal North Shore) and North Shore Private Hospital Geriatrics.
These rotations will depend on seniority, qualifications, departmental requirements and trainee preferences.

Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases
