The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Kubernetes/AWS Infrastructure Engineer to join a high-performing team supporting critical cloud infrastructure and platform services within a national security environment.
This is a hands-on role focused on designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-scale AWS cloud platforms. You will play a key role in building secure, resilient, and highly available cloud infrastructure while driving automation, platform modernisation, and cloud-native adoption.
Working closely with infrastructure, security, and engineering teams, you will contribute to the delivery of mission-critical cloud services and support ongoing innovation across AWS environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure supporting critical digital services.
- Deploy, manage, and optimise Kubernetes environments with a strong focus on Amazon EKS.
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 operational support for cloud platforms and infrastructure services.
- Support go-live activities and operational readiness for new platform deployments.
- Develop, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, CDK, and related technologies.
- Build automation solutions to improve platform reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Create and maintain detailed technical design and implementation documentation.
- Develop and execute infrastructure and platform test plans.
- Support the migration and modernisation of complex infrastructure into AWS cloud environments.
- Work closely with security teams to ensure cloud services align with security best practices and organisational requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across cloud, DevOps, and platform engineering practices.
What You'll Need
- Strong hands-on experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale AWS environments.
- Deep understanding of AWS infrastructure services, networking, security, and AWS Landing Zones.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes, including Amazon EKS and containerised workloads.
- Experience with container technologies and orchestration platforms including Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, and EKS.
- Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform, AWS CDK, or other Infrastructure as Code technologies.
- Experience supporting cloud migrations and transitioning complex environments to AWS cloud platforms.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture patterns and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience implementing cloud security best practices across enterprise environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to create clear technical documentation and design artefacts.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
