Hachi Hachi Bar is a distinctive Japanese-inspired cocktail bar in Toowoomba specialising in premium beverages, Japanese spirits and cocktails, supported by a limited food offering.

We are seeking an experienced Venue Manager to take responsibility for the overall day-to-day management of the venue and ensure consistently high standards across staffing, service delivery, beverages, stock, suppliers, compliance, operational systems and customer experience.
The Role
Reporting to and working closely with the business owner, the Venue Manager will be responsible for the effective day-to-day management of Hachi Hachi Bar.
This is a hands-on, venue-wide management position with responsibility for coordinating the people, systems, suppliers, stock, costs, compliance requirements and service standards necessary for the efficient operation of the venue.
The Venue Manager will have responsibility for managing the venue's daily operations while the business owner retains responsibility for broader ownership and strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the overall day-to-day operations of the venue.
- Recruit, train, roster, supervise and support bar and service staff.
- Determine appropriate staffing levels and coordinate staff resources according to operational requirements.
- Monitor staff performance and maintain appropriate training and service standards.
- Establish, implement and regularly review venue operating procedures, customer-service standards and day-to-day operating practices.
- Manage the range and mix of beverages and other products offered by the venue.
- Manage beverage stock levels, inventory requirements, stock usage and wastage.
- Oversee purchasing and maintain effective relationships with beverage and other suppliers.
- Review product pricing, quality, availability and purchasing requirements within agreed budgets.
- Monitor sales, beverage costs, stock costs, labour costs and other venue operating expenses.
- Monitor venue budgets and cost-control targets and provide operational and financial information to the business owner.
- Maintain appropriate operational and financial records relating to venue activities.
- Oversee POS, rostering, inventory-management and other operational systems.
- Maintain high standards of customer service, beverage quality and venue presentation.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and manage customer complaints, service issues and day-to-day operational problems.
- Ensure compliance with liquor licensing requirements, Responsible Service of Alcohol obligations, workplace health and safety requirements and other applicable legislation and regulations.
- Coordinate employees, suppliers, contractors and other operational resources required for the smooth running of the venue.
- Oversee venue presentation, cleaning, security and routine maintenance requirements.
- Work closely with the business owner to identify and implement practical improvements to operational efficiency, cost control, service standards and customer experience.
Skills & Experience
- Diploma or higher qualification in Hospitality Management, Business Management or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years' relevant experience in venue management or a comparable hospitality or service-management position involving responsibility for staff management, purchasing and inventory, operating costs, regulatory compliance and day-to-day establishment operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing the day-to-day operations of a licensed hospitality venue.
- Demonstrated experience supervising, training and rostering hospitality staff.
- Experience in beverage purchasing, stock control, inventory management and supplier coordination.
- Experience monitoring labour costs, stock costs and other venue operating expenses.
- Strong customer-service, leadership and staff-management skills.
- Sound knowledge of RSA, liquor licensing, WHS and other regulatory requirements applicable to licensed hospitality venues.
- Experience implementing and maintaining venue procedures and service standards.
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge and experience with premium spirits and cocktails.
- Knowledge of Japanese whisky, sake, shochu, Japanese-inspired cocktails and omotenashi service principles will be highly regarded.
