Are you the type of person who’d rather be outside than stuck behind a desk? Do you enjoy working independently, operating machinery, and tackling new challenges every day?
We’re looking for a Trainee Site Investigator / Soil Field Technician to join our expanding team and build a rewarding career in geotechnical engineering.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll spend your days outdoors, travelling to diverse locations across NSW — from Wollongong to Newcastle — working alongside drill rigs and specialised testing equipment to uncover what’s happening beneath the ground. Every site is different, offering variety, adventure, and real responsibility.
- Operate and work alongside drill rigs and heavy machinery
- Drive 4WD vehicles to access unique project sites across NSW
- Conduct soil and ground investigations for major construction and infrastructure projects
- Use specialised equipment including nuclear density gauges and compaction testing tools
- Collect and analyse field data that influences real-world engineering decisions
- Collaborate with our in-house lab for soil sample analysis and testing
- Assist with screw pier installations as part of a diverse, varied workload
- Work independently in the field while being supported by an experienced team
- Spend most of your time outdoors, not in an office
- Travel throughout NSW and work across a variety of environments
- Learn specialised skills and machinery operation from day one
- Build a long-term career in a growing, market-leading industry
- Enjoy a role that combines technical work, problem-solving, and hands-on field experience
- Every day brings a new location, new challenge, and new opportunity to grow
- Valid Manual Car Driver’s Licence
- White Card (or willingness to obtain one)
- Mechanically minded with a hands-on attitude
- Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently
- Good English communication skills and attention to detail
- Soil or field experience and WHS knowledge are a bonus — but not essential
- Available to start immediately
