About this Position:
Reporting to the Grants, Revenue and Rates Lead, the Senior Rates Officer is responsible for delivering specialist rating services, including the accurate levy of rates and charges, maintaining property and debtor records, and supporting revenue management functions.
This role is instrumental in ensuring Council’s rating processes are efficient, compliant with legislation, and aligned with best practice financial management. You will also contribute to revenue modelling, forecasting, and continuous improvement of rating structures and processes.

What we trust you to deliver:
Maintain the integrity of Council’s rating database (ownership, valuations, categories and addresses)
Prepare and issue rates and annual charges notices and manage instalment schedules
Administer pensioner concessions, rates rebates, payment arrangements and hardship applications
Support debt recovery processes in line with legislation and Council policies
Analyse and review rating structures, benchmarks and revenue performance
Provide accurate reporting, forecasting and insights to support financial planning
Respond to complex customer enquiries with professionalism and clarity
Contribute to audits, policy reviews and process improvements
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners
What you will need to be successful:
- Certificate IV in Financial Services, Business or equivalent experience.
- NSW Class C Driver Licence.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy and numeracy skills
Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines during peak periods
Sound judgement and a collaborative, empathetic approach (particularly in hardship cases)
A proactive mindset with a drive for continuous improvement
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex matters clearly
A commitment to teamwork, integrity and Council values
Full position description:
Full Time: 70 hours a fortnight
Salary: A salary starting from $97,677 per annum + superannuation
