CA Gen Developer (Mainframe / COBOL)
Location: Sydney NSW, Brisbane QLD, Canberra ACT, Melbourne VIC, Adelaide SA
Duration: 12 months contract + 24 months extension options

Job Description
FinXL is seeking a highly experienced CA Gen Developer to join a major program of work for a large Federal Government department. You will be contributing to a major enterprise environment that supports critical, large-scale government service delivery. Candidates need to be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain a security clearance. CA Gen, COBOL, RESTful APIs, and SOAP services.

Responsibilities

Drive development strategies that guarantee long-term code quality, system stability, and easy maintenance.

Provide expert-level technical advisory across the full software engineering lifecycle and maintenance activities.

Oversee release management processes, ensuring seamless deployment and ongoing production support.

Conduct comprehensive technical analysis and requirement reviews to propose robust architectural options.

Troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve intricate software and system-level ICT challenges.
Key Skills & Experience

Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in CA Gen application development.

Proven experience working with Cuba or comparable enterprise-level legacy software systems.

Strong proficiency in writing, analyzing, and debugging COBOL codebases.

Solid background developing and integrating SOAP web services, RESTful APIs, and MQ messaging solutions.

Exposure to Win32 application development environments and associated tools.

Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Baseline security clearance.
Engagement Details

12+ months contract with a Government client.

Hybrid working model with 3 days/week in the office in Sydney CBD (other office locations in Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra and Adelaide).
